107 juegos de disparos en primera persona para Linux (2a parte).

figh win prevail1¿Quién dice que no se puede jugar en Linux? Vale que el catálogo nativo disponible no es ni mucho menos tan amplio como el de Windows, pero es que además muchos de los juegos para Windows pueden ser aprovechados directamente en Linux gracias a desarrollos como Wine, Cedega o PlayOnLinux.

Pero como decía, hay un buen número de videojuegos nativos para Linux que aprovechan las virtudes de OpenGL, y que sobre todo demuestran su potencial en el terreno de los First Person Shooters.

Vamos a dar una breve explicación de cada uno  así como el enlace a las respectivas páginas oficiales, aclarando que el orden de ellos no indica una mayor o menor importancia:

  • Fight Win Prevail Fight Win Prevail (or FWP for short) is a FREE multiplayer first person shooter. The game is set in an imaginary universe where pilots meet in special arenas to fight to the death with their vehicles.
  • Force: Leashed Force: Leashed is a first person gravity fiddler. To advance, you need to guide rockets to their targets using spherical potential fields. And no, it's not like Portal.
  • Freedoom The Freedoom project aims to create a complete Doom-based game which is Free Software. Combined with a Free Source Port, people will also be able to play the back catalog of extensions made to Doom by hobbyists over the last 10 years.
  • Hell World Hell World is a FPS adventure game which features excellent graphics, a dark atmosphere and an excellent scenario. It is designed to be a port to the Windows-only version of Hell World.
  • Heretic Heretic is a port of the popular DOS game that runs under X11, GGI and SVGAlib.
  • Heretic II (commercial) Heretic II is a third-person action game based on the Quake II engine, Heretic II sets players on a quest through vast, city and outdoor environments as they search for a cure to a deadly evil plague before all is lost.
  • heXen:Edge of Chaos heXen:Edge of Chaos will be a new and free game, based on the original Hexen game that was developed by id Software and Raven Software.

1.-  Edad de los Imperios II | Age of Empires II | + Expansion.


Age of Empires (conocida también por las siglas AOE) es una serie de videojuegos de estrategia en tiempo real para computadoras personales, desarrollada por Ensemble Studios y publicada por Microsoft Game Studios.
El primer título, Age of Empires, apareció en 1997; desde entonces, se han lanzado otros tres títulos y seis expansiones más. Todos ellos cuentan con dos modos principales de juego (mapa aleatorio y campaña) y tratan sobre eventos históricos diferentes.
Los dos primeros títulos, Age of Empires y Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome, se centran en los eventos ocurridos en Europa y Asia desde la Edad de Piedra hasta la Edad clásica, explorando el segundo la formación y expansión del Imperio romano, mientras que el siguiente, Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings y la expansión del mismo Age of Empires II: The Conquerors, se centran en el periodo que va de la Edad Media hasta la conquista de México. Visto que la gente principalmente tiene como primer problema para migrar a Linux es el tema de los juegos, os vamos a dejar una lista detallada de juegos en la que hacemos hincapié para demostrar que en Linux también se puede jugar y bien. Vamos a animar un poco el domingo entonces.
Los juegos que os proponemos son la mayoría 3D y nativos de Linux, sin necesidad de tener que correr Wine o similares. Son juegos de calidad y la mayoría ha ganado algún premio y salido en alguna revista.
La lista de los juegos es abierta, podéis aportar más juegos e iremos añadiéndolos poco a poco. Por ahora propongo los siguientes: Battle for Wesnoth, Nexuiz, America’s Army, Enemy Territories: Quake Wars, Tremulous, World of Padman, Tux Racer, Vendetta, Alien Arena 2007, Urban Terror, A Tale in the Desert, Second Life, Savage 2, Warsow, TrueCombat: Elite, Frozen Bubble, TORCS (The Open Racing Car Simulator), Flight Gear, Frets on Fire, Scorched 3D, ManiaDrive, WarZone 2100, Spring, Battle Tanks y para terminar por ahora: Excalibur: Morgana’s Revenge v3.0.

4.- Lemming Ball Z, el mejor juego 3D inspirado en DragonBall.


Lemming Ball Z es un juego de peleas desarrollado en base al popular DragonBall pero en el cuàl los personajes principales son los curiosos lemming. pertenecientes a Windows, pero que también incluyen al Linux.
Tal y como lo evoca su nombre es una curiosa y original mezcla entre DragonBall Z y los famosos Lemmings.
En este juego, los pacíficos y simpáticos lemmings se han convertido en violentos guerreros cuyo único objetivo es limpiar por completo a su oponente del mapa. Lo cual es posible en partidas de jugador único (contra la PC) o en partidas de tipo multijugador en red local o a través de Internet.
Para poder alcanzar dicho propósito se debe realizar el mejor uso de ataques especiales, movimientos espectaculares al más puro estilo kamehameha o simplemente golpes con las manos.

5.- 5 juegos de accion en primera persona para Linux.

El objetivo de este artículo es demostrar que tambien en Linux se puede jugar y bien.
Aparte de los juegos tradicionales nacidos para otros sistemas operativos y después adaptados para Linux (previo paso por Wine), hay una infinidad de juegos un poco menos conocidos pero igualmente bellos esteticamente y agradables de jugar nativos para el sistema operativo del pinguino.

Para los nostágicos de los primeros FPS, allá por mediados de los años 90.
PrBoom es una versión libre y mejorada de Doom 2 (cuyo motor fue liberado bajo GPL en 1999) disponible para varias plataformas.

De carácter independiente y multiplataforma, y de precio gratuito, se publica en forma de episodios que son lanzados una vez las donaciones y el tiempo de su único autor lo permiten.
La temática Sci-Fi de este juego, basado en el conocido programa de modelado y animación Blender, va asociada al genial Art-Work de su creador (parte del cual podéis disfrutar en su página web). La historia está estructurada en 3 episodios (el 3º ya está en un 10% de su desarrollo), así que si os gusta no dudéis en apoyar económicamente a su creador. Si no sois de ese tipo de gente, al menos echadle un voto en Steam Greenlight para que pueda llegar a un gran escaparate de juegos.

Tux es el nombre de la mascota oficial de Linux. Creado por Larry Ewing en 1996, es un pequeño pingüino de aspecto risueño y cómico.
La idea de que la mascota de kernel Linux fuera un pingüino provino del mismo Linus Torvalds, creador de kernel Linux.
Según se cuenta, cuando era niño le picó un pingüino, y le resultó simpática la idea de asociar un pingüino a su proyecto. 
Existen dos versiones sobre el origen de su nombre. La primera sugiere que el nombre surge del hecho de que los pingüinos parecen vestir un esmoquin (que en inglés es tuxedo max, abreviado tux). La segunda es que las letras que componen Tux provienen de las palabras Torvalds Unix.

9.-  El motor gráfico Torque 3D migra a Linux y se transforma en open source.

torque3dGarage Games, fabricante del motor Torque 3D de juegos, ha revelado sus planes para que el Software sea de código abierto.
La compañía hará que su motor esté disponible bajo la Licencia MIT y cambiará su enfoque para proporcionar apoyo, formación y consultoría para los usuarios del Software, y crear aplicaciones personalizadas utilizando el motor como parte de ese proceso.
La empresa también explicó que se va a compartir el código fuente del motor en un repositorio de GitHub y que el código fuente completo de la versión 1.2 de Torque 3D dará a conocer, entre ellos cuatro plantillas para ayudarle a empezar con el desarrollo de juegos. La compañía dice que otras fuentes, actualmente de código cerrado, de los componentes del motor se dará a conocer más tarde bajo una licencia de código abierto.

Robots es un juego donde tiene que tratar de evitar una banda de robots merodeadores que, por alguna razón sin explicación, tratan de matarle. Está basado en el juego tipo texto robots que se puede encontrar en cierto número de sistemas UNIX.
Esta nueva versión incluye dos tipos de robots, chatarra móvil, múltiples configuraciones para el juego, disposiciones de teclado definibles por el usuario y sonidos, así como todas las características que estaban disponibles en el juego Robots original.
Para ejecutar Robots, seleccione Juegos ▸ Robots del Menú principal, o escriba gnobots2 en la línea de comandos.
Robots está incluido en el paquete gnome-games, que es parte del entorno de escritorio GNOME. Este documento describe la versión 2.30.1 de Robots, la ùltima versiòn estable disponible al momento.
